Horse Shows on TV
Well I don't know if anyone has noticed but there are currently three new shows on cable that are associated with horses. Two just started and the other has been on for a couple of months.
I have to say this is a truly exciting time for the horse community. Not only can we have horses during the day in our stables, now we can come inside and veg out watching, "Wildfire" the horse equivalent of "Melrose Place". (ABCFamily, but this show is not for kids!)
"Horse Power" (on Animal Planet) is a show that follows teen riders from different stables on the East Coast, get ready for the Maclay.
I loved this show! It's very interesting to watch these excellent young riders go through the trails of showing on the A circuit.
The other show is "Trail Mix". I didn't enjoy this show as much. It was very slow and more about the celebrities than the horses. This show is about how horses have changed the outlook of different celebrities' lifes. Yet all the people on the show really don't spend that much time with their horses. They were all, (except for one I think) on tour and out of town most of the time.
I think we need to have a show about everyday horse people. I am more interested about my peers than part-time horsemen celebrities.
Or maybe I just need some reassurance that I'm not the only horse nut out there who would rather be cleaning a stall, being bit, stepped on, thrown off, always muddy with hay in my hair, and the smell of horse always on me, than anything else in the world.
