Linda Black Scores High Point Open Title at SKRHA Show
Linda Black of Spiceland, Indiana, rode the Paint stallion Calicos Asset to the High Point Open Champion title at the South Kentucky Ranch Horse Association show on February 4 and 5, 2006. The pair won the Open Ranch Trail jackpot class and placed in Amateur Stallion Halter, Open Stallion Halter, and Open Ranch Riding. Black was awarded with an embroidered saddle bag for their effort. Black has more than 20 years of real-life ranching experience balanced with endeavors as a team roper, barrel racer, and showperson, as well as her role as Official Outrider for the State of New Mexico on the 1976 National Bicentennial Wagon Train. She and her husband, Bill, have owned and operated Cross 9 Ranch for 15 years. The method of teaching and training employed by the Blacks—the language of the horse—is universal and effective throughout the spectrum of equestrian sport. They have received recognition in numerous equine and mainstream publications, and their annual cow working clinic was featured on WFYI’s “Across Indiana” television program in 2004.
